Dutch Language and Culture Courses
Koru Life Balance has started with Dutch Language and Culture Courses in 2010. The focus is on learning spoken and written language for everyday use. Aspects of Dutch language culture and etiquette are covered.
We distinguish the following three courses:
- Beginners Courses
- Intermediate Courses
- Advanced Courses
Beginners: Level 1 and 2
Level 1 is a course for students who have little or no knowledge of Dutch. The emphasis of this course is on daily conversation. Some attention will be paid to basic grammar, spelling rules and pronunciation. Some topics of this course are: introducing yourself, personal information, inviting someone, greetings, time, days, going out, restaurant / cafe and making an appointment. Level 1 has no prerequisite.

Level 2 is a course for students who have some knowledge of Dutch or who followed the Beginners 1 course. The emphasis of this course is on daily conversations. Some attention will be paid to basic grammar and spelling rules. Some topics are: shopping, transportation, how to make a call, the post office, banking, newspapers and magazines. For Level 2 you need to have 25 hours of previous language study.
Intermediate: Levels 3 and 4
Level 3 courses are for people who have at least 50 hours of previous language study. You will further develop your ability to communicate in the Dutch language and increase your knowledge of culture and etiquette.
Level 4 offers the continuation of these courses; 75 hours of previous language study are required.

Advanced: Levels 5 and 6
Level 5 courses are for people who have at least 100 hours of previous language study. They will help you develop fluency and accuracy in the Dutch language. You will revise and increase your knowledge of grammar as well as gaining greater confidence in using the language.
Level 6: Conversation - The courses are designed for people with good command of the Dutch language who are willing to participate in discussions held entirely in Dutch. Courses will offer a supportive environment for maintaining, renewing and extending the Dutch language knowledge.
